Crabs are lice, which occur in pubic region of humans. These pubic lice are insects of parasitic nature, which generally affects the genital regions. It spreads through sexual contact and spreads one of the irritating diseases that you can come across.

ItchingAs this disease affects the pubic region, so from the initial stages of the infection the pubic region starts burning in pain and has an itching sensation. The itching sensation is believed to increase during night. The area of itching spreads and increases to moist areas of body like armpits. On close observation of the affected area, crawling lice or lice eggs can be noticed.

Treatments should be started as soon as possible to contain the spreading of the infection. The affected area should be washed and towels should be used for drying. Medicines like permethrin should be applied over the surface and left for about 10 minutes, whereas if medicine like lindane is used then it should be left for about 4 minutes, it should be followed by thorough rinse. Some lice might still be attached to the hair. However, fingers can remove them manually. All cloths, which were used prior to treatment, should be washed with warm water.

It is advisable to repeat the medication if the infection does not retreat within a few days. Sex should be avoided until complete treatment, as the sexual partner is also at risk of infestation.
