Research has shown that a protein which is produced in the liver might help doctors to predict who might be at a high risk to get diabetes in the future.

By conducting a study on persons over the age of seventy researchers discovered that people, who had a high level of fetuin which is a protein, were more likely to get diabetes of type 2 during the nest 6 years.

This protein is produced by cells in the liver which are concerned in sugar glucose and calcium metabolism. Type 2 diabetes shows a high glucose level in the blood.

Research in recent times shows that women who would like to keep of this type of diabetes, should eat a lot of leafy green vegetables and fruits, but avoid fruit juice as this contains a lot of fructose and not much fiber which is bad for diabetes.

Instead of drinking fruit juice they can have 3 extra helpings of fruits and more of spinach and other leafy green vegetables instead. This kind of a diet definitely lowers the risk of getting diabetes according to recent studies. Even babies whose mother’s have been obese and who have had diabetes are at a higher risk to get diabetes type 2 during adolescence.
