AUGUST 24. PHILADELPHIA - There is a large number of ways by which doctors across the world detect diseases in their patients. Researchers at Monell Chemical Senses Center have come out with a very surprising new result that was never heard of. Their research has found that there is a new way of detecting whether a person is affected with skin cancer or not.
In due course of their research, they discovered that it is possible to detect skin cancer in patients by the help of smell.
It was found that when a person is affected with skin cancer their skin gives out a certain smell, which is not found coming from those not having the cancer.
It is thus possible to detect skin cancer, as those who are affected by the disease, will give out an odor that is peculiar for the ones affected by skin cancer.
The test was carried both on healthy and unhealthy people. It was found that the odor given out by them
were different.
The researchers feel that developing a technology equipped with nano sensors could help in detecting skin cancer in the odor released by the tumors on the body of the patient.
This method will help doctors in detecting skin cancer effectively, as there is very less chance of mistakes in
such mode of detection.
