Health News: Our mouth is the abode for innumerable microbes

AUGUST 18. WASHINGTON - A new type of bacteria has been found in the mouth of human being by the team of researchers from College London Dental Institute. This is quite a significant discovery, as it would help scientist to understand the problem of gum diseases tooth decay easily, which in turn means we will have better treatments now on.

By the changes brought out by the microbes, many tooth and gum diseases attack the human mouth. Tooth decay and other oral problems are most frequent bacterial diseases, which affect the human beings. To curb them, the major concern of the scientists was to understand the nature and type of bacteria’s present in human mouth.

King’s College London Dental Institute, Professor William Wade commented that even a healthy mouth of a human being is the dwelling for various microbes like fungi, bacteria, virus and protozoa.

In every millilitre of human saliva, it is estimated that there are around 100 millions of bacteria’s and around
600 types are present in the mouth. Of these bacteria’s, half of them are yet unidentified and scientists are trying their best to name the few and understand their species well.

Researchers have found around three traces of Prevotella bacteria in both the healthy mouth and the infected mouth. Still, they remain unidentified by the scientists. This bacteria leads to infections not only in the mouth, but even various other body parts.

With the identification of various bacteria, the treatment and cure process will also improve making things better for human race, as reported by an expert.
