AUGUST 10. LONDON - A recent study proves that infants, who have been breastfed, have reduced cholesterol levels in their later life. Again, nursing mothers will have reduced chances of being affected by breast cancer. Thus, breastfeeding has prolonged health benefits for both the nursing mother and the infant.
For coming to conclusions, 17,000 adults were reviewed by researchers of St George’s University of London. It was hereon concluded that the infants, who were breastfed had low cholesterol levels, as compared to the ones fed on formula. Not only this, the development of the baby in the former case is also healthy.
Many lives can be saved, if nursing mothers feed their babies at least for the stipulated time period of six months. The reduction in the levels of cholesterol in turn reduces the chances of heart problems. If breastfed is not possible, keep the content of cholesterol in formula feed low.
Breastfed can help control the heart problems or coronary diseases by a minimum of 5%. This may seem insignificant, but it is considerable when total population is taken into consideration. The researchers urge nursing mothers not only for their good, but also for their child’s safety, to breastfeed.
