AUGUST 11. WASHINGTON – It is believed that men are more prone to infections and generally, transmit diseases.
An American biologist believes that the reason behind disease transmissions is testosterone, the male sex hormone.
Penn State doctoral student, Daniel Grear, concluded after an experiment on mice that increase of testosterone is the prime reason for the transmission of diseases in men.
Daniel said “It is a fact that testosterone is the cause of men being vulnerable to diseases”.
The reason to take on the study was to find the behavioral changes, if any, because of testosterone. It was also targeted for studying the relationship between hormones and the multiplicity of their chances to transmit diseases.
During the experiment, the level of testosterones in mice was increased drastically. The hormones were implanted in the mice and then the amount of risk was calculated.
It has been observed that the mice were integrating more to the ones, who were implanted with the hormones. This has been proved after mice, implanted with hormones, were kept at various sites with other mice for two to six weeks and then studied for the results.
