Though everyone is aware of this, not all are able to follow the safety path for their lives. In order to quit smoking one has to follow some helpful tips with great patience and seriousness. Some of them are listed below.

A goal has to be set in the mind as when one will give up smoking particularly the date and time. This will help the person to prepare his or her mind to any withdrawal symptoms that he or she may have to face.

Another tip is to get engaged in some other interesting activity so that you can divert your mind from cravings for cigarette to something else. Instead of cigarette, one may go for some chewing gums, toffee, nuts, gargling with mouthwash, singing, whistling etc. for a while and take off the thought of smoking away from you. Also the habit of holding cigarette in hands could also be converted to writing habit, sewing, playing cards or some other board games.

If you want to quit smoking, you have to go for a healthy food habit. Healthy food should be able to lessen the craving for smoking. They include fruits, vegetables, water, tomato juice, etc.

Another fruitful tip is to take regular exercise that is particularly cardiovascular ones. It will also help dealing with difficult emotions like stress, depression, boredom, etc.

  1. These tips only work if the person WANTS to quit smoking. My dad have been smoking for more than 50 years and he likes it.

    He is aware of the dangers and risks but it gets him out the house, away from my mother :-)

    I’m a smoker but not a heavy smoker..I only smoke 5 sticks of cigarettes a day but I guess it doesn’t matter if you’re a heavy smoker or not as long as you smoke your health is at risk :)
    I really want to quit this cold turkey but it’s rather difficult for me since all my co-workers around me smoke, and every time I smell their smoke gives me this cravings to smoke too.
