Recent research reports show that adults affected by the lazy eye can have it corrected to some extent by magnetic pulses being beamed into the brain. Amblyopia is an eye problem where one eye has poorer vision. Earlier this problem was believed to be difficult to treat in adults and only children were supposed to have improved eyesight with treatment. This was usually done by making the child wear a patch on the eye that had better vision to strengthen the sight in the poorer one.
Transcranial stimulation with magnetic impulses to the cortex, which is an essential portion of the brain, done for a period of fifteen minutes, has proved to be effective in improving the eyesight in the weaker eye. A coil held by the hand is placed on the person’s scalp and magnetic impulses in a rapid train are sent to the brain of the afflicted person. This form of therapy has also proved to be effective in rehabilitating those who have had a stroke.
Tests conducted on persons who had a lazy eye syndrome, has shown marked improvement in the weaker eye, though only for a temporary period.
