Tips to keep away from common cold

Common cold as the name itself describes, is very common ailment and is much easy to attack. More than adults we often find it in children as it has fast spreading nature and children have less immunity power. The day care and school will be the main spot from where they bring in cold.Common cold is not completely preventable, but can be taken care to an extend that one can keep away from it. Some of the tips are as follows-

1. Keep proper hygiene – Wash your hands after shaking hands or touching a person who has cold. Also, do not use the hand towels that are kept common at the restaurants, hotels, etc. Avoid being in contact with the objects that are used or touched by another infected person.
2. Keep away from the infected person- The first few days of having cold is the most contagious period and it is advisable to be away from the people who have cold in those days.
3. Be aware of the infection- It is suggested to keep your fingers away from your own nose and eyes if you have caught cold. This is in order to prevent the cold virus from spreading.
4. Eat lot of fruits and vegetables- Fruits and vegetables contain vitamins that will help withstand common cold. They are also good for health otherwise.
5. Take multi vitamins- Multi vitamins will help the infected to fight with the cold virus and keep the immune system active.
6. Take lots of water- Intake of water will prevent the dryness of throat and nostrils. It is advisable to take at least 8-9 cups of water a day.
